I've been on this keto run last couple of weeks which means lunches are often McDonald's cheese burgers minus the buns, yum .... anyway this morning I thought surely I have made progress. Ergo I was weighed, I was measured and progress was found absolutely wanting.
In a fit of anguish, rage and tumult of emotion; or not wanting another round of McD's cheeseburgs because my kids wanted that for lunch, I ran to Big Tony's West Philly cheesesteaks because if I I'm going to cheat on my diet, I'm gonna cheat on my diet in style. I drive by this joint every day thunking, thinking & wondering. Well thunking no more because Big Tony delivered in style!
I got the #15 Broadstreet cheesesteak to go. Despite being wrapped in foil the juices soaked through the paper to make yummy paper, a bonus side for those of us looking to offset the carbs with fiber in our diets...
I overheard Tony (yup he was there, awesome, awesome gentleman), explain to another customer that West Philly style is everything mixed together on the grill into one big mash. The Broadstreet with it's banana peppers, halos and mushrooms was definitely a fine choice. Everything came together in a yummy, juicy bite!
Fries and hockey pucs were added to accompany me on my descent into carbotopia. The fries are seasoned with salt and pepper. I didn't know that but I liked that. The hockey pucs are fried jalapeno slices + ranch on the side and you can't go wrong with that.
Ironically enough I found out afterwards they have keto friendly options.... Doh but so worth it. -

My hubby and I took our two teens to try this place out. We were a bit apprehensive when we pulled in the parking lot and it was empty other than one car. Good dining places are usually not empty, even on a Monday night.
We decided to chance it anyway because of the reviews on yelp and also the reviews of several different sites stating that these were authentic Philly cheesesteaks.
I must say we were thoroughly impressed. Very authentic, and the owner, Tony, (from West Philadelphia) was super friendly and nice (as were all the other employees we encountered). My kids, who are super picky, loved the chicken nuggets and chicken sticks, and even liked the bit of cheesesteak I made them try.
I will definitely be going back to try some more sandwiches. The pastrami is next on the list. -

This is the only place to get a true philly cheese steak from one of Philadelphia's best food enthusiasts and entrepreneurs in the Dallas area. Tony cooked the meal himself and was happy to share a couple stories from his way to owning/managing a handful of locations in the Dallas area.
Delicious, authentic, and you will want to come back for more.
Cheers. -

The food is really good. The people that work there are kind although seemingly aloof and distracted.
I've been in several times and it's always felt inappropriately empty. I worry about their longevity given the vibe when you are there. I also tend to take my order to go for that same reason.
Today, I saw this sign on the main counter which I've posted a photo of. I'd suggest they reword or remove the sign as it just screams out that they are not customer friendly. I'm not sure what problems they've had in the past but it's not a good message. -

The food? 5 star job.
The service? It shouldn't take over 35 minutes on a Saturday evening to get a regular #8 and 8 wings, but it did.
My order was to go, yet when I asked for some to go Jalapeno ranch, I was pointed to the small fridge on the counter....and given empty containers. Never had that happen in Allen...
I suspect they will be better the next time.
Parking is plentiful.
